Enrolling at TSHM

Enrolment Eligibility

“If we could treat the children of three or four generations by profound constitutional homeopathy, our world would be a different place from the standpoint of health, prevalence of crime and human happiness.”

Elizabeth Wright Hubbard, M.D.

Applicants to the professional diploma program in classical homeopathy must have completed their OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) or equivalent, plus a minimum of two years of study at the college/university level. Applicants who have not achieved these requirements may apply under "Special Student" status.

If you are applying as a special student, please submit an essay describing your intention to apply yourself to consistent study and hard work to the level of a university degree, as well as any personal qualities and contributions that would support your application. Indicate if there are reasons why your academic record does not reflect your true academic ability. Your essay should be typed, double-spaced and a maximum of four pages.

Applicants must have an open and tolerant mind and be interested in people and the world we live in. We prefer applicants to be 21 years of age and over. There is no upper age limit and we accept many mature students.

TSHM encourages a creative and warm learning environment between students, staff and lecturers. Respect, honesty, trust and integrity are required in these interactions to form the basis for professional interactions with patients. We encourage all applicants to start their own inner work (counseling, bodywork, homeopathy, etc.) before applying for the course. For those with a purely intellectual interest in homeopathy, we recommend taking an introductory course with selected readings instead.

Recommended Pre-Application Reading

(Available at Minimum Price Books at www.minimum.com and Discount Homeopathic Resources at www.wholehealthnow.com/books)

1. 'Impossible Cure' by Amy Lansky
2. 'Beyond Flat-Earth Medicine' by Timothy Dooley
3. 'The Science of Homeopathy' by George Vithoulkas

You may apply online , print out a copy of the application form to post to us, or contact us and we can send you an information package including an application form. Complete the form (type or write in capital letters), sign and date it, and then return the form to the School office, attention 'Registrar.' We require the following three enclosures with your application form:

  • Life History Sketch:
Outline your major activities in chronological order (e.g. occupational, volunteer, educational, extra-curricular, travel, clubs, certificates, qualifications, awards, memberships, etc.) in the last ten years. Your Life History Sketch is similar in format to a resumé, but broader in content.
  • Essay:
Outline your reasons for wishing to study homeopathy, and your previous experiences/studies of homeopathy or other healthcare professions. Your Essay should be typed, double-spaced and a maximum of four pages.

To further support your application, we require the following two types of information:

Your first reference can be professional (e.g. homeopath or healthcare provider), academic (lecturer, professor), work-related (e.g. supervisor, employer) or volunteer/community service-related (e.g. supervisor). Your second reference can be of a personal nature. Both references must have known you for a minimum of two years and cannot be relatives. Your references should mail their letters directly to the School office, attention, 'Registrar' and include their current mailing addresses and daytime phone numbers.

Please note that an incomplete or illegible application will delay your enrollment and that all applications, enclosures and supporting information remain the sole property of the School.

Interviews:

Once we receive your application, enclosures and supporting information, you will be contacted for an informal interview. The interview is an opportunity for the prospective student to discover whether the program can best serve long-term career interests. You will be offered a place in the program if the interview is satisfactory.

Deposit:

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within ten days of acceptance to hold your place in the course. This amount will be deducted from the total tuition fees due for the year.
